Every day is a school day

Whilst in the RAF it can be easy to get into a creative rut, with a lot of what we do having a set structure and layout without much wiggle room to shake things up. This is why I am so excited to start learning how to pose people creatively in all the settings imaginable.

This project is where I started getting inspiration and ideas for posing individual portraits and learning how to direct and prompt people to create the image and shapes that I had in mind.

This was also a really good opportunity to try out some new editing techniques and dip my toe into the massive pool that is colour grading and you can see a couple of different ways I went with this, which majorly depending on where about the sun was for each of the shoots. Some I went with warmer tones to really bring out the low sun and I also tried out the more grainy, magenta toned film style on the last couple of shoots I did. This really worked once the sun had dropped below the tree line and it was a much softer light which landed itself really well to the older film style.

Not only was this a lot of fun, dancing around in a sunflower flower field at sunset with a whole bunch of lovely folk, but I also learnt an incredible amount and gained a lot of confidence in my own ability.

A big shout out to all the girls that helped with modelling and holding the giant reflector on this, you're all stars.

Big Love
